Effective October 1, 2026
These policies decide who can earn royalties and which content counts; they apply alongside the Bond Royalty Program Terms and Bond's Terms of Service, and Bond may update them with notice. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meanings in the Royalty Program Terms and the Key terms of the Terms of Service.
1. Who can earn royalties
To be reviewed and stay in the Bond Royalty Program, you must meet every requirement below. Bond checks them at application, during manual review, and at any time afterward.
- Age. You are at least 18 years old. Bond may ask you to verify your age, and may reject or remove any account it reasonably believes belongs to a minor.
- Location. You live in the United States and are eligible to receive payments there. You are not located in, or a resident of, a country or region subject to comprehensive U.S. sanctions, and you are not on any U.S. government restricted-party list.
- One person, one account. You have one Bond account, it is yours, and you are the person who wrote its Stories and Memories. Accounts operated for, shared with, or sold to someone else are not eligible. Businesses, brands, agencies and public-figure fan accounts are not eligible.
- Good standing. Your account follows Bond's Terms of Service, has no active enforcement action, and has not previously been permanently removed from the program.
- Accurate information. The name, date of birth, location, tax and payout information you give Bond is true, complete and yours. The payout account must be in your own legal name.
- Not an insider. Bond employees, contractors and their immediate household members are not eligible.
2. Eligible Stories and Memories
Only eligible Stories and Memories count toward the thresholds. Bond decides eligibility, and content that does not count is still governed by Bond's Terms of Service.
Threshold | Stories | Memories | Window |
To be reviewed | 5 eligible Stories | 50 eligible Memories | None |
To stay eligible after acceptance | 1 eligible Story | 10 eligible Memories, new or meaningfully updated | Each 30-day period, counted from your acceptance date |
To reapply after removal | 1 eligible Story | 10 eligible Memories, new or meaningfully updated | A new 30-day period after removal |
An eligible Story is a Story you publish on Bond that:
- includes at least one image and a written backstory;
- includes a backstory describing a real moment from your own daily life, told in your own words;
- uses images you took yourself or have the right to share;
- is original to you, not copied, templated, or substantially generated by AI tools;
- meets the content rules in Section 3;
- is not deleted.
An eligible Memory is one Bond extracts from your Stories or Q&A, or that you add or meaningfully update directly. It is a distinct fact, experience, preference or recollection about your own life. It must be truthful, not a repeat of previous Memories created, and meet the requirements in Section 3. Memories created in chat or Q&A count toward the Memory total. Memories never count as Stories; Stories must be posted separately. Memories you delete do not count and are not used in Simulations.
Updates count. Toward the Ongoing Threshold, an eligible Memory includes a meaningful update to an existing Memory, such as correcting it, adding detail, or reflecting how something in your life has changed. Minor edits, such as fixing a typo or rewording without new information, don't count. Each Memory counts once per 30-day period, whether new or updated. When Bond merges related Memories, the result counts once; if the new content added information, it counts as a meaningful update. Updates don't count toward the 50 Memories needed to be reviewed.
How counts are measured. Bond merges Memories that say the same thing. Your counts always reflect your Memories after merging and after any deletions.
- To be reviewed. Bond checks the Qualifying Threshold when your account is submitted and again before deciding. If merges or deletions bring you below it in between, your review is paused, not rejected. It resumes automatically once you're back at the threshold, and Bond will tell you in the app.
- After acceptance. The 50-Memory threshold applies only to being reviewed. Falling below it later doesn't affect your status.
- Each 30-day period. Your count for a period is final when the period ends at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on its last day. Merges or deletions after that don't change it or affect royalties already earned, except as described in Section 4 for violations. A Memory added during a period that merges into a Memory from an earlier period counts only if it adds information, as a meaningful update.
- Reapplying. The same rules apply when you reapply after removal.
- Mistaken merges. If Bond merges Memories that are actually different, tell us in the app or at support@bond.now. If we agree, we'll separate them and correct your count for the current period. If a mistaken merge caused you to miss the Ongoing Threshold in a period that ended within the past 30 days, we'll correct that period and pay its base royalty.
What does not count: duplicate or near-duplicate content; content removed by Bond; Memories that are one-word or trivial answers; and content created before the program's launch date unless Bond says otherwise.
3. Ineligible content
Content in any category below does not count, earns nothing, and can lead to removal from the program. Repeated or serious violations can lead to permanent removal and suspension of your Bond account.
Category | Examples |
Spam | Repetitive, low-effort or mass-produced Stories; content made mainly to hit thresholds; copy-paste answers in Q&A |
Fake or misleading | Invented events presented as real; impersonating another person; stock, scraped or AI-generated images presented as your own photos; fabricated preferences meant to game Simulations |
Illegal | Content that violates any law, promotes illegal activity, or depicts the sale of regulated goods such as drugs, weapons or counterfeit items |
Harm to minors | Any sexualization of minors; any content endangering a child. Bond reports apparent child sexual abuse material to NCMEC |
Sexual content | Nudity or sexually explicit content |
Violence and hate | Threats, glorification of violence, graphic gore, hate speech, harassment or bullying |
Self-harm | Content promoting suicide, self-harm or disordered eating |
Other people's rights | Copyrighted images, text or music you do not own; private information about other people, such as their full names paired with health, addresses, contact details or financial information; images of identifiable people who have not agreed to be shared |
Commercial content | Ads, sponsored posts, affiliate links, product promotion or paid endorsements |
Regulated sensitive data | Government ID numbers, payment card or bank account numbers, passwords, precise medical records |
Sensitive topics are allowed, with limits. You may write about your health, relationships, beliefs and finances as part of your Stories. Bond uses automated tools and human review to identify sensitive content and handles it as follows.
Never used in Simulations. The following are never used in Simulations, whether or not you opt in:
- precise geolocation;
- citizenship or immigration status;
- government-issued identification numbers, such as Social Security, driver's license, state ID or passport numbers;
- account log-in credentials, and financial account, debit card or credit card numbers;
- genetic data, biometric data and neural data;
- status as a victim of a crime;
- the contents of messages, emails or texts written by other people; and
- content about an identifiable minor (see below).
Used only if you opt in. Memories Bond identifies as revealing the following are used in Simulations only if you separately opt in, in Settings > Royalties > Sensitive topics:
- your physical or mental health, including reproductive or sexual health and gender-affirming care;
- your sex life or sexual orientation;
- your status as transgender or nonbinary;
- your racial or ethnic origin or national origin;
- your religious or philosophical beliefs;
- union membership; and
- your personal finances, such as income, debts or financial hardship.
The Privacy Policy, Section 5, lists the same categories. Memories used in Simulations are drawn only from what you wrote or said, not from messages written by other users. If we add a category to the opt-in list, we won't use information in that category for you unless you opt in again.
Content about minors. Memories, Stories and photos that identify or are about a person under 18, including your own children, are never used in Simulations. A person is identifiable if they are named, shown in a photo, or described in a way that could reasonably identify them. Bond excludes from Simulations any Memory that describes a specific minor, including Memories drawn from a photo that shows one. Photos, images, videos, and voice recordings are never used in Simulations. You can still post this content on Bond, and it still counts toward your thresholds. It just isn't used in Simulations.
If we miss something. If Bond finds that content in one of these categories was used in a Simulation, it removes that content from future Simulations. You can also report content to us at support@bond.now.
Precise location is never used in Simulations. Bond does not use precise location from your device in Simulations. Before Memories are used in Simulations, Bond removes street addresses and other precise locations in them with general locations, such as a city or region. This applies whether or not you opt in to sensitive topics.
4. Account integrity
Royalties depend on Memories that reflect how real people live and think, so anything that makes your content less real is prohibited. You may not:
- use bots, scripts, automation or AI agents to create Stories, Memories, or Q&A;
- buy, sell, rent, trade or transfer an account, content, or program status;
- run multiple accounts, or coordinate with others to post shared or swapped content;
- invent or exaggerate Memories, preferences or profile details to raise bonuses or to appear in more Simulations;
- try to learn which businesses run Simulations or influence Simulation outcomes;
- try to re-identify other users or extract other users' data; or
- use a VPN or false information to appear to be in the United States or over 18.
Bond may use automated systems and human review to detect these behaviors. If Bond finds a violation, it may withhold unpaid royalties earned through the violating activity, reverse bonuses, and recover amounts already paid for that activity, to the extent the law allows.
5. Staying eligible, enforcement and reapplication
After acceptance, you earn a base royalty for each 30-day period in which you meet the Ongoing Threshold, and usage bonuses for every Simulation Question your Memories contribute to, whether or not you meet the Ongoing Threshold that period. "Monetization Removed" has the meaning given in Section 7.3 of the Royalty Program Terms. When your account is Monetization Removed, you stop earning and Bond stops including your content in new Simulation Questions from the date of removal. You still earn usage bonuses for Simulation Questions submitted before that date.
Situation | What happens | How to get back in |
You miss the ongoing threshold (1 Story, 10 Memories) in a 30-day period | No base royalty for that period. You stay Active and keep earning usage bonuses. Bond may remove monetization and will tell you if it does | If removed: reach the ongoing threshold in a new 30-day period, triggering a new review process |
Ineligible content (minor) | That content does not count; Bond may notify you | Nothing, if it does not repeat |
Repeated or serious violations | Monetization Removed. Unpaid royalties tied to the violation are withheld | Reach the ongoing threshold in a new 30-day period, triggering a new review process. Bond reserves the right to remove you from the program permanently |
Fraud, account integrity violations, or harm to minors | Monetization Removed permanently. Possible Bond account suspension | Not eligible to reapply |
No payout account within 6 months of acceptance | Pending balance lapses. Monetization Removed | Reapply after meeting the ongoing threshold |
Manual review. Every application and reapplication is reviewed against these policies, usually within 3 business days. Meeting a threshold makes your account eligible for review; it does not guarantee acceptance.
Notice and appeal. When Bond rejects an application or removes monetization, it will update you in the app, except where doing so would compromise safety, an investigation, or the law. You can request a second review within 30 days by contacting support@bond.now. Bond will respond within 14 business days, and its decision on appeal is final for purposes of the program.
Changes. Bond may update this policy. Material changes take effect 14 days after notice, except changes required by law or to address safety or fraud, which can take effect immediately.
